For this client project, I reviewed the available case documents relating to an ongoing maritime dispute before the Federal Maritime Commission.
The objective was not to take either party's position, but to understand the case from the available sources and present the information objectively.
I reviewed the relevant filings, identified the facts that both parties had agreed on, separated those from allegations made by each side, traced important figures back to their source documents, and reviewed the legal arguments and previous cases referenced in the filings.
I then summarised the findings into a concise, reader-friendly article and created a supporting chart based on figures contained in the source documents.
My work included:
- Reviewing and summarising source documents
- Extracting relevant facts and figures
- Separating facts from allegations
- Cross-checking information against original sources
- Understanding the key issue and arguments presented
- Reviewing cited precedents and background information
- Turning complex material into clear, neutral content
- Creating a supporting data visualisation
Deliverable: Research-based article, supporting chart, and source note.
Client Work Sample: The article is available for download, with most of the content redacted to protect client confidentiality.
